Trucks Pre-1932 USA makes
Saurer trucks were exported from Europe to USA since 1904 by Albert T. Otto. 192 Saurer chassis imported in 1904-1911 (2 in 1904, 25 3-4-tonners in 1906, 12 in 1907). In 1908 in order to reduce shipping cost Otto set up an assembly plant in Plainfield, New Jersey. American assembled Saurer trucks appeared in 1909 and discontinued in 1918. In 1923 Adolph Saurer Inc. (the New York City branch of the Swiss Saurer) introduced a 6 1/2 ton Saurer A-type truck on the American market.

Production increased seriously in 1915 thanks to American armed forces order. During WWI american Saurer military trucks were exported to Russia, France, Belgium and England. In 1916 the company decided do not accept large orders on Saurer as Mack AC - another model of the company - was very successful.
