In May 1919 Briggs & Stratton Company bought rights for Smith Motor Wheel from Smith Motor Co..
Briggs & Stratton increased bore and stroke. Engine power increased from 11/2 to 2 hp.
In 15 XII 1919 - 1923 wooden Briggs & Stratton Flyer automobile was in production, factory price $150 ($175 since 1 IV 1920, $200 since 1 V 1920, $225 since 15 VII 1920, $200 since 1 IV 1921, motor numbers J101-...).

In parallel Briggs & Stratton produced automobile switches (151k), generator cutouts (151k), horns (91k), keys (46k), stationary engines for washing machines (55k)

In early 1924 rights on Briggs & Stratton motor wheel have been bought by Automotive Standards Inc., Newark, New Jersey. But they continued only with 2-seater car under "Red Bug" trademark, and when Briggs & Stratton motors were over, they conversed the construction for electric motor and battery. Red Bug production ceased in 1930.

Briggs & Stratton continued production of automotive accessoires and stationary engines. In 1939-1940 Briggs & Stratton used in Ranger scooters and power units for bicycle, in 1938-1941, 1945 Moto-Scoot scooters, in 1941-1945 Safticycle scooters.
